LECTURE Building bridges in a new way – gender equality in planning and construction

Monday, 9. of February 2026
7:00 pm - 10:30 pm

How can cities and buildings be planned more equitably? On February 9, two lectures will shed light on gender equality in planning and construction from different perspectives: Nicole Parlow will present “QUEENS OF STRUCTURE,” highlighting outstanding female civil engineers and bringing their often invisible achievements in civil engineering to light. Sandra Huning will then combine feminist urban planning with social and ecological transformation. The ideas from both lectures can be explored in more depth in a relaxed discussion afterwards.

About the exhibition:

“Rethinking Bridges: Living Space, Urban Space, Open Space” (January 23 to February 26) examines the topic of bridges not only from an infrastructural perspective, but also highlights urban planning and social aspects. The exhibition, conceived by the Institute for Solid Construction at TU Dresden under the direction of Prof. Steffen Marx, uses national and international examples to show how bridges can be positively integrated into the cityscape, nature, and thus also into the living environment of their users. The historical change in bridge visions and student designs for the reconstruction of Dresden's Carola Bridge will also be presented.

LECTURE Building for the future – Resource-efficient and material-minimized constructions for our cities

Friday, 6. of February 2026
6:30 pm - 10:00 pm

How can we build resource-efficient and material-minimized bridge structures for the city of tomorrow? On February 6, two presentations will shed light on innovative approaches: Laurent Ney, from Ney & Partners, Brussels, will present bridges as connections in time and space—structures that optimally combine architecture, construction, and context. Nadine Kuhla von Bergmann from Creative Climate Cities, Berlin, will show how spaces, people, and bridge technologies can be linked in the resource-efficient city of the future. The subsequent Q&A session will provide an opportunity to explore these ideas in greater depth.

Industry meeting for carbon-reinforced concrete in Dresden: Carbonbetontage 2025

Monday, 22. of September 2025 - Tuesday, 23. of September 2025
5:00 pm - 5:00 pm

On September 22 and 23, 2025, Dresden will host the annual highlight for carbon-reinforced concrete topics – the 17th Carbon Concrete Days. The venue is the German Hygiene Museum in Dresden, where experts, planners, and innovators will come together to discuss the future of construction.

Why it's worth attending:

  • Top expertise condensed into two days: There will be over 30 practical presentations with insights from research, planning, and implementation.
  • Wide range of topics: Building construction, civil engineering, carbon-reinforced concrete in the cycle, special applications, and bridge construction – everything is covered.
  • Evening program: On September 22, participants can look forward to a well-planned evening event with a panel discussion, buffet, and music – ideal for networking.

Who will be speaking?

The lecture day will feature top-class experts from research and industry, including representatives from TU Dresden, RWTH Aachen, TU Berlin, TU Braunschweig, CARBOCON, Hering Bau, Reaku, and others. Names such as Alexander Schumann, Magdalena Kimm, Rebecca Kissner, Roland Fink, Sergej Rempel, and many more guarantee a strong technical program.

Who should attend?

Builders, planners, construction companies, suppliers, software, machinery, and logistics providers—in short, anyone who works with or wants to work with carbon-reinforced concrete. The event brings together knowledge, practice, innovation, and valuable contacts.
