From 15-18 September, the eleventh edition of the BEFIB - International Symposium on Fiber Reinforced Concrete took place in Dresden. 200 experts from all over the world came together for insightful discussions, knowledge sharing and joint innovation.
The exchange of ideas and the enthusiasm of the participants were inspiring and many valuable connections were made. Over three intensive conference days, there was the opportunity to see a variety of lectures and poster presentations on current topics in the field of fibre-reinforced concrete.
In addition, participants had the opportunity to attend presentations by international experts. The organisers were very proud that they could win Prof Barzin Mobasher (Arizona State University, USA), Prof Gideon Van Zijl (Stellenbosch University, South Africa), Prof Tine Tysmans (Vrije Universiteit Brussel, Belgium), Prof Manfred Curbach (Technische Universität Dresden) and Prof Marco di Prisco (Poliecnico di Milano, Italy) as keynote speakers.
At the conference, 6 projects from the CRC/Transregio 280 "Design Strategies for Material-Minimised Carbon-Reinforced Concrete Structures", funded by the German Research Foundation (DFG), will also be presented and discussed, and Dr Josiane Giese was awarded the Best Paper Award for her conference paper "Thin Carbon-Reinforced Concrete Components Under Combined Compressive and Bending Load".
