The future holds many great challenges for us. Women and men engineers who develop solutions with technical know-how and creativity are in demand. It is undisputed that women also have what it takes - yet many are unsure whether it is right for them. TUD Dresden University of Technology's tryING program offers female high school graduates the opportunity to try out engineering studies - from July 31 to September 8, 2023, interested women will also be guests at the Faculty of Civil Engineering and at the CRC/Transregio 280. With an excursion to the Gottleubatal Bridge in Pirna, practical workshops in the Otto Mohr Laboratory, exchange of experiences at various lectures and discussions with scientific staff of the institute, the potential female engineers are offered an interesting program, which is free of charge for the participants.

  • 03.08.2023 - 09:00 - 15/16:00 - Excursion to the Gottleubatal Bridge in Pirna
  • 15.08.2023 - 14:00 - 18:00 Experience report study and workshop concreting - specimen production in Otto Mohr laboratory
  • 21.08.2023 - 14:00 - 16/18:00 Lectures "Experimental Research", exchange of experiences and discussion at the Institute of Concrete Structures
  • 29.08.2023 - 13:30 - 16:00 Workshop test specimen testing - experimental characteristic value determination and short presentation of Otto Mohr laboratory

The tryING trial program is just the thing for young women who have a high school diploma and are interested in a career in engineering. "tryING is aimed at female high school graduates who are interested in studying engineering but are still undecided," says Dr. Sylvi Bianchin, coordinator of MINT projects at TUD Dresden University of Technology. "In our experience, many doubt, usually wrongly, whether they can do it. With the trial study program, we want to encourage young women and show them the diversity and attractive career opportunities in engineering." Artificial intelligence, technical design, acoustics and speech communication are just a small sample of the topics the participants will learn about in the workshops. tryING is organized in such a way that there will still be enough time afterwards to enroll in an engineering program at TUD Dresden University of Technology for the winter semester 2023/24.
