The workshop was led by Dr.-Ing. Birgit Beckmann (SP Z). She conveyed the first basic information on concrete as a building material in a clear and child-friendly manner. It was astonishing that some of the children already had prior knowledge of the material. After a brief introduction, the children visibly enjoyed working with concrete.  Regardless of whether they had previous knowledge or not, everyone was very eager to work on measuring out the recipe, mixing and placing the concrete in silicone molds. They even practiced compacting and saw from the hardened examples what good or bad compacting leads to. Many of the children took advantage of the opportunity and were able to make some nice, unusual Christmas presents for their parents.

Dr.-Ing. Birgit Beckmann was supported by Dipl.-Ing. Josi Giese (SP C04) and Dipl.-Ing. Nicholas Unger from the Institute of Concrete Structures at the Technische Universität Dresden.
